Getting started with Asky
From install to your first response in about five minutes. This guide walks you through setting up Asky and publishing your first post-purchase survey.
1. Install Asky
Add Asky from the Shopify App Store and approve the requested permissions. Once installed, Asky appears in your Shopify admin under Apps → Asky. Opening it for the first time lands you on the dashboard, where you'll create surveys and review responses.
2. Enable the theme app embed
Asky renders its surveys through a theme app embed, so you need to switch it on once before anything appears on your storefront. In your Shopify admin go to Online Store → Themes → Customize, then open App embeds from the left sidebar and toggle on Asky Survey Embed. Save the theme.
This single toggle lets Asky inject surveys into your thank-you and order-status pages. You don't need to add any code or edit Liquid by hand.
3. Create your first survey
Back in the Asky dashboard, click Create survey to open the no-code editor. Give the survey a name, then add questions from the question picker. Asky supports:
- Single choice and multiple choice — pick one or several options
- Open text — free-form written feedback
- NPS — the classic 0–10 likelihood-to-recommend scale
- CSAT — a satisfaction rating
- Yes / no — quick binary answers
- Date — capture a specific date
- Content block — a non-question panel for intros, thank-you notes or instructions
The live preview shows exactly what shoppers will see as you build. When you're happy, set your targeting rules — by product, country, language, order value or customer status — so the right survey reaches the right buyers.
4. Activate it
A survey only collects responses once it's active. Set its status to Active from the editor or the surveys list. Because the theme embed is already enabled, an active survey starts appearing on your post-purchase pages immediately — no further publishing step required.
5. See your responses
As customers complete checkout and answer, their responses flow into your dashboard in real time. You'll see response rate, completion funnel, NPS and CSAT scoring and per-question breakdowns. For a full walkthrough of reading and filtering answers, see Viewing & filtering responses.
That's it — you're live. Next, dig into adding the survey to post-purchase pages to fine-tune exactly where and to whom your surveys appear.
